The platform
Otter Distribution operated four Magento1 stand-alone stores for each brand and in order to streamline their operations, the need to create a more efficient and highly scalable system was more pressing than ever.
The decision was to use a modern Magento 2 platform that handles the four online storefronts, integrated seamlessly with the physical stores, the ERP and the warehouse managing system.
Our work
The complexity of the project was enhanced by the fact that various functionalities needed to be integrated to prepare the platform for the requirements of modern shoppers.
The first phases of the project implied the migration process, while our Front-end team worked on creating a custom Magento2 theme based on the design provided by the client.
An advanced Elasticsearch solution was installed and configured to give the native search function an extra layer of complexity by increasing speed and the ability to find more relevant search results.
One of the most complex integrations our team tackled was a Flash Sale feature, which creates a sense of urgency by blocking products until the countdown reaches 0:00:00 and the SALE starts.
Our team also integrated five complex solutions for efficient Marketing, Analytics and top-notch customer service: Nosto, Klavyio, Mailgun, ZenDesk and reviews.io.
Additionally, we integrated Plytix PIM, an AI-driven solution for automatically creating product descriptions customized for each sales channel.
Finally, the project benefitted from rigorous testing to identify and resolve bugs, compatibility issues, and performance bottlenecks before they affect the end-user experience.
